Yadkin Riverkeeper is seeking to hire a Summer Communications Fellow.  The position is a 10 to 12 week (05/24 - 8/14), 20hr/wk. stipend position.  The summer stipend will be $3,000 - $3,600.

Job responsibilities:

1)       Assist in developing and promoting communication messages, outreach materials, educational activities, e-newsletter posts, and social media content.

2)       Create 3 engaging newsletter/blog posts (One for June, July, and August) on water protection issues that the fellow is interested in/ passionate about.

3)       Assist Yadkin Riverkeeper in updating our website's education page weekly.

4)       Support Yadkin Riverkeeper and our partners in hosting summer education programs virtually and potentially in person (depending on Covid-19 guidelines).

5)       Provide tech support for Zoom and Facebook Live Monthly speaker series.

6)       Assist in identifying and doing outreach to prospective community partners.

7)       Assist in identifying themes and speakers for the Fall 2021 and Winter 2022 speaker series.

8)       Support YRK in outreach to the agricultural community in Yadkin County

9)       Assist in the development and distribution of YRK Advocacy Toolkit that can serve as a resource for diverse communities within the Yadkin Pee Dee River Basin.

10)   Support in planning a sustainability summit to be hosted in Fall 2021.

11)   Support with other tasks as directed.

Qualifications:

1)       Commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

2)       Experience/interest in community outreach and organizing with diverse communities.

3)       Willingness to work on different tasks within the broader context of making YRK a more diverse and inclusive organization.

4)       Preferred working knowledge of Photoshop, PowerPoint, SquareSpace website design, Canva, and other graphic design programs.

5)       Excellent writing and verbal communication skills. Video production experience is a plus.
