Dear Friends of the Yadkin River,
Over the past year, Yadkin Riverkeeper has been working tirelessly to protect and preserve the Yadkin Pee Dee River basin, thanks to the support of donors like you. As we continue this vital work, we’re reaching out to ask you to renew your commitment to the River.
With your help, we’ve achieved incredible milestones, such as collecting over 340 water samples across 26 Swim Guide sites to monitor E. coli levels and conducting monthly sampling on High Rock Lake to combat harmful algal blooms (HABs). We also increased public awareness of the negative impacts of HABs and coordinated efforts to develop effective mitigation strategies.
YRK is the lead advocate for effective High Rock Lake nutrient management rules, which will reduce sediment and nutrient pollution going into the River and Yadkin Lakes and address the root causes of the HABs.
In addition, we made strides in improving public access to our beautiful river by acquiring the Burch Station Access Area and hiring our first full-time Yadkin River State Trail Coordinator. We also launched innovative programs like the "Trash Trout" litter removal device on Silas Creek and coordinated stream and river cleanups that removed more than 3,000 pounds of trash from the watershed this year.
But we can't continue this important work without your renewed support. Your donation today will help us build on these accomplishments, fund new initiatives, and ensure a healthy, thriving Yadkin River for generations to come.
Every drop counts in our shared mission to protect and enhance this vital resource. Please consider renewing your support by making an online donation today. If you prefer, you can also mail checks to 846 W 4th Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Questions? Email Layne Meredith at layne@yadkinriverkeeper.org.
Thank you for considering renewing your support for Yadkin Riverkeeper. Together, we can make an even greater impact!
With gratitude,
Layne Meredith
Development, Yadkin Riverkeeper
