Do you like clean water? Or enjoy a cold beer? Thank the Clean Water Act—and step up to defend it.
Join Brian Fannon with Yadkin Riverkeeper and Geoff Gisler with the Southern Environmental Law Center to learn about the greatest threat to clean water in the last 50 years.
Our rivers and streams have benefited from clean water protections that have been in place since the 1970s. A new proposal from the EPA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Washington, D.C. threatens to take away those safeguards, putting the places we swim, play, and get our drinking water at risk. The new “Waters of the United States” (WOTUS) proposal could strip protections from more than 49,000 miles of streams and millions of acres of wetlands in North Carolina alone.
Fortunately, the agencies are taking public comment on their proposal right now. This event will help you understand what’s at stake and provide you with information to make your voice heard during this comment period.
