Darrell Westmoreland has a passion for fixing nightmare, unstable stream banks that wash tons of soil away annually. He has built a career out of restoring streams through natural channel design that uses on-site, locally available materials. Over more than 24 years his company has planted hundreds of thousands of trees and restored over 1 million linear feet of stream channels and 700 acres of wetlands! Darrell will discuss the importance of stream restoration as well as some of his favorite projects around North Carolina and highlight river work throughout Forsyth County. Come see how our streams can be rehabilitated to benefit the ecosystem along with the beautiful transformations a stream undergoes with the right shaping, incorporating various structures and by utilizing native plants.
