Old 421 Park to Huntsville/Shallow Ford (20 minute shuttle, 5.4 miles)

This paddle will follow the famous and historically significant West Bend of the Yadkin River. Following the paddle, participants will have exclusive access to hike around the historic Shallow Ford tract recently acquired by The Conservation Fund and learn about the important role the area has played in our nation’s history. A wine, beer, and heavy hors d’oeuvres reception will follow the hike at the Westbend Winery.

This is a 2-hour paddle. Lunch will be provided before the paddle.

1:00pm- On the water
3:00pm- Off the water
3:30-5:00pm- Hike
5:00-7:30pm- Westbend Winery reception

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED AND ENDS ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 23rd at 10 am. Please register below.

YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF YADKIN RIVERKEEPER TO SIGN UP. You may purchase a membership here.

Note: Personal Flotation Devices (PFD's) are REQUIRED for all paddlers. PFD's are included in your kayak or canoe rental, and if you are using a YRK boat; however, if you are supplying your own boat, please bring a PFD. All paddlers are required to sign a waiver; if you have a minor child, the waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian.

Disclaimer: All Yadkin Riverkeeper Paddle Trips are subject to change. Times and availability are flexible due to weather, flood gauges, and other circumstances beyond our control. Please allow extra time based on river conditions. All ending times are estimates. Yadkin Riverkeeper Paddles are alcohol-free. Please keep in mind that paddle trips average 3 miles per hour once on the water.
