Alcoa Worldwide Pollution: A Detailed History of Toxic Operations
Literature provided to Yadkin Riverkeeper by Alcoa falsely states: "Alcoa has a proven track record as a good environmental steward. Alcoa takes its environmental responsibility seriously and has earned an outstanding reputation locally, nationally and globally for its commitment to protecting the environment."
Below is an interactive map showing Alcoa’s pollution worldwide. Click on each Google Map point for additional information and video links. If you are aware of pollution in your area as a result of Alcoa’s past or current operations, email us with the pollution site and your source and we will incorporate it into the map. Alcoa, by its own admission, has polluted the Badin Lake area in North Carolina. They are now applying to lease the rights to the water for another 50 years but have not agreed to clean up the area. Please express your concern to Governor Bev Perdue.
